Remember us in your will
If you support your countryside now, you can make sure your goodwill can live on forever.
Leaving a donation in your will is one of the single most important acts you can do for the future of your local countryside.
When I go I want to be pushing up the daisies - Prunella Scales
Our organisation has survived and has continued to protect the Peak District landscape and the South Yorkshire countryside because of the legacy of our founders and their friends, both in financial terms and through their pioneering conservation work.
Through their legacy the organisation is a strong force for good in the countryside and you can help to keep it that way. How? By leaving a donation in your Will and helping us to continue this legacy of achievement, success and history.
Legacies do not have to be big gifts and in fact we receive many gifts of between £500 and £5000 as well as larger ones of £15,000 and £25,000. Every donation we receive is very important to us and really does help our work. Whatever level you can give us, it will be used to help protect this area of beautiful countryside which is some of the finest in England.
You might be thinking what can my money do in the future and will it really help? And the answer is yes. Climate change and a warmer environment will bring year round tourism and in conjunction with a growing national economy and population this will have a major impact on the already tired transport links. As more roads are built and enlarged to take the increased road usage, aggregate will continue to be extracted from the hillsides of already enlarged quarries. Renewable energy is likely to expand significantly bringing the threat of numerous wind farms throughout the Peak District. You can see what problems, to name but a few, the Peak District faces in five, ten, twenty years' time and beyond and we need to be here to keep any unnecessary development to a minimum so that future generations can enjoy this outstanding countryside.
You can give to us in two ways by giving a lump sum (pecuniary legacy) or by giving a percentage (residuary legacy) of your estate. The latter one allows your family and friends to be looked after first as only what remains is given to us.
Remember that as we are a registered charity, any type of legacy you leave us is entirely free of inheritance tax.
