In 2005, CPRE, Peak District & South Yorkshire published the first directory devoted to the culinary delights of South Yorkshire with the aim of establishing a greater link between food and the landscape in which it is produced. Supported by Business Link South Yorkshire, the South Yorkshire Local Food Directory is the essential guide to where to buy and eat the best high quality, locally grown produce across the county. Available free at many outlets across South Yorkshire. A History of CPRE Sheffield, Peak District & South Yorkshire Branch, researched and written by local historian, Melvyn Jones.

The book is a tribute to the single mindedness, dedication and generosity of Ethel and Gerald Haythornthwaite and the thousands of members who have supported their cause over the years. With a foreward from Sir Chris Bonington, the book maps the history of the Branch from its foundation in 1924 to 2001.
