LOOKING TO THE FUTURE. COUNTRYSIDE GROUP’S INVITATION TO THINK ABOUT A VISION OF THE COUNTRYSIDE IN 2026

The Campaign to Protect Rural England’s Peak District and South Yorkshire Branch is to host a special debate, at the Bakewell Agricultural Business Centre on Tuesday 17th June at 6.30pm, on the future of the countryside and the challenges it faces as the organisation looks towards its centenary year in 2026.

Part of the charity’s 2008 Annual General Meeting, the Farming and the Future of the Landscape discussion begins at 7.30pm and will include thought-provoking contributions from Head of Rural Policy at CPRE National Office Tom Oliver, and Peak District sheep farmer Kath Burkinshaw.

How we use and manage the countryside is changing due to pressures on farmers and the wider economy. This event will be an important opportunity to discuss the challenges ahead and their likely impact on the landscapes that matter to people, explains CPRE Peak District & South Yorkshire Chief Executive, Carol Robinson. We are looking forward to a lively debate about just how an effective balance between protecting the landscape and supporting rural livelihoods can be achieved. Everyone is very welcome.

Entry to the event is free but to reserve a place please contact CPRE Peak District & South Yorkshire on tel: 0114 266 5822. Wine and canapé refreshments will be served during the evening.
