Rossington Inland Port - not just road!

29th Aug 2012

Developers Helioslough have just applied for the first phase of details planning permission for the 239 hectare distribution centre near Rossington.

Doncaster Council approved the outline planning permission for the project - called the Rossington Inland Port - in November 2009.

We objected in the first place because we believed the warehousing would be predominately road based and that therefore justification for this Green Belt location - adjacent to the rail line - didn’t exist.

As one of the main selling points of this distribution centre was that it would link rail to road, and therefore reduce the number of lorries being used, we are glad to see that Doncaster Council has now included a condition that the site cannot be occupied until the railway is in place.

We will be watching to ensure that this condition is met.
