Thorpe Marsh: bad news
We’re hugely disappointed that Doncaster Council yesterday recommended that the application for an enormous gas fired power station at Thorpe Marsh, north of Doncaster goes ahead. Because the application has been made using the Electricity Act, it now goes to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change for a final decision.
We objected to the plans because a new fossil fuelled power station will go against national policies on climate change, and will also cause significant local environmental impacts. We are writing to the Secretary of State to recommend it is refused, and are urging people who agree with us to do so too - email or write to Chris Huhne, Department of Energy & Climate Change, 3 Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2AW.
