About Us

The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) has been working for the protection of the countryside throughout our Branch area for over 80 years.

CPRE South Yorkshire's aim is to protect and enhance the countryside of South Yorkshire for everyone to enjoy now and in the future. Our vision is of a beautiful, diverse and sustainable countryside. We want to see environmentally friendly farming and forestry, and green spaces unspoilt by development. We see thriving villages and attractive towns, connected by excellent public transport. To make it all happen, we need sustainable land-use policies and a fair planning system which considers the needs of the local community and the wider environment.

Countryside images - green fields, wild flowers, stone walls, quiet cottages - speak directly to the heart. Beautiful landscapes refresh, comfort and stir us. A favourite walk or view helps put things in perspective and make even complex problems clearer.
